Objective of activity:                             To orient students of UG & PG about the various healthy practices at the University.

To orient students of UG & PG about the various activities of IIS-TIE (The International Cell).

To sensitized to the concerning deterioration of vital environmental components

Summary/Description:                              The following sessions were conducted during the orientation session of the students:

Healthy Practices: The resource person apprised the participants about the various healthy and best practices at the University. The session covered different aspects like academics, research, leadership, grievance handling and the support facilities available to the students on campus.  

Orientation of International Cell: As a part of its 21 day Deeksharambh – An Orientation program for its UG & PG students, the IIS (deemed to be University) invited Dr. Mani Bhatia – Director IIS-TIE (the International Cell) to apprise the students about the objectives of the cell. Dr. Bhatia discussed about the various MoUs that the University has with different consulting service provider. She informed the students how they can benefit from such collaborations. For e.g., an MoU with IDP who is also the co-owner of IELTS exam in India.

Dr. Bhatia also mentioned about the cell’s tie-up with American Institute of Indian Studies through which 22 students from different parts of the United States of America came to learn Hindi at the AIIS and during their stay, they explored the culture of India by experiencing different asans of yog at the University. The also got hands on experience of tie-dye and jewellery making with the help of faculty members from the School of Design.

Dr. Bhatia concluded the session with ‘How can students we help you?’ briefing. How faculty members and students can utilize the services of IIS-TIE.

Environmental Consciousness: Given the significant and far-reaching implications of environmental consciousness on the well-being of both present and future generations, an enlightening session was orchestrated by Dr. Charu Jhamaria, Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science. This session was particularly tailored for the cohort of students enrolled in the academic year 2023-24, recognizing that the upcoming generations wield the power to shape our future.

Throughout the session, the students were sensitized to the concerning deterioration of vital environmental components such as water, air, land, and biodiversity. Driven by the latest data, the discourse shed light on distressing trends, including the alarming decline in groundwater levels, the persistent menace of poor air quality, and the disheartening loss of significant flora and fauna species. With these sobering insights, the speaker engendered a profound awareness of the urgency surrounding environmental issues.

The discussion delved deep into the root causes behind the degradation of our environment, while also illuminating pragmatic conservation approaches that can serve as effective remedies. These conservation strategies ranged from local to global scales, spanning diverse fields such as resource management, pollution control, and habitat restoration. Dr. Jhamaria's expertise offered the students a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of environmental challenges.In addition to addressing broader solutions, Dr. Jhamaria also imparted practical wisdom by sharing simple yet impactful tips that every individual can embrace in their daily lives. These insights encompassed measures to conserve precious water resources, combat air pollution through conscientious actions, and safeguard our planet's finite natural resources. By empowering each student with actionable knowledge, the session aimed to transform awareness into tangible efforts for positive change.

As the session drew to a close, it was evident that the students had not only gained insights into the complexities of environmental degradation but had also internalized their responsibility as stewards of the planet. Armed with knowledge and a heightened sense of duty, these young minds departed the session equipped to make informed decisions, advocate for sustainable practices, and actively contribute to a more environmentally conscious and harmonious future.

Outcome of the activity:                           In healthy practices session Students became aware of the various platforms which can be a support towards their holistic development.

The orientation of International cell created awareness about how a student can benefit from the different activities of the International Cell at the University.

In session of environment consciousness session students became sensitized about the close environment they live in and to take care of it.
