Industry Visit to Jaipur rugs

The department of HRM AND IB organized an industrial visit to Jaipur Rugs for MBA-HRM & IB semester third students on 3rd October 2016. Jaipur Rugs located in Mansarovar Industrial area is one of India's largest manufacturers of hand knotted rugs, known globally as a leader in the hand-made rugs category. Jaipur Rugs is a family business, built on a bed-rock of values of its founder NK Chaudhary. It is driven to work with and tap into the creative capacity of those in society who have so far remained under represented.
Jaipur Rugs was founded by Nand Kishore Chaudhary in 1978, who started the carpet business with two looms. At present Jaipur Rugs have businesses in more than 40 countries. Jaipur Rugs produces a range (handmade ,handcuffed, and handloom)of rugs, pillows in fresh and innovative colors and sophisticated textures and patterns.
The visits began with an informative presentation on foundation and organization structure of Jaipur Rugs. This was followed by a demonstration of around 20 different rugs handcrafted by craftsmen /artisians. The session included the story behind their creation, their popularity and how they can be differentiated from machine made carpets. Besides this the students also visited the premises of Jaipur Rugs where various masterpieces of hand knitted carpets were showcased. The entire manufacturing, designing and knotting process of carpets was also explained to the students along with their demonstrations.
The visit was an enriching experience for all the students who visited the industry and they gained invaluable knowledge about the entire working from the manufacturing stage to the finished product stage. The visit helped the students to understand the nitty-gritty of end-to-end carpet making process.
