Summary/Description: A Basic Life Support Training Program was organized by SMS Trauma Center, Jaipur in collaboration with Peoples Trust India, Jaipur. The program was coordinated by Dr. Purnima Sharma and Dr. Prerana Arora Singh.  Basic Life Support (BLS) includes recognition of signs of sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke and foreign body airway obstruction and save the life of patient by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation with an automated external defibrillator. This course teaches a person to give CPR to the patient immediately and can save his life in emergency situations before reaching to the hospital.

Mr. Rajkumar Rajpal taught us the procedure to give ‘CPR’ and showed us the practical demo on the dummy. Then Dr. Anurag Dhaker explained us to give ‘First Aid’ to a victim of road accident before reaching to the hospital. Dr. Devendra Purohit took our session on ‘Organ Donation’ and taught us the organs that can be donated to the needful person. We also got certificates at the end of the BLS Training Program.

Outcome of the activity: Students learned to give CPR by practicing on the dummy available in the hospital, gained knowledge on the need to donate organs (heart, kidney, liver, pancreas) and tissue (eyes) that can save someone’s life. This practical training program enhanced their knowledge and taught them the basic skills to save a life in emergency situations.
