Concept, functions and Types of Collective bargaining; Process of Collective Bargaining, Collective bargaining in the Indian context.

Grievance Procedure: Meaning, Characteristics, Need for, Causes of Grievance, Basic Elements, Grievance Procedure

Industrial Conflicts:                                                                                

Meaning, Features, Classification of Conflicts: Strikes, Lockouts, Gherao, Causes and Impact of Industrial Conflicts, Lay off and Retrenchment, Unfair Labour Practices

Machinery for prevention of Industrial Disputes: Model Standing order, Code of Industrial Discipline, Labour Welfare Officer, Tri-Partie Body.

Machinery for settlement of Industrial Disputes: Conciliation, Arbitration and Adjudication, Courts of Enquiry, Dispute settlement procedure.

Trade Union:                                                                                            

Meaning, Functions, Objectives, Basis of Organization of Trade Union: Crafts Union, Industrial Union, General Union; Trade Federations, Problems of trade union.

The Trade Union Act, 1926: Registration of trade unions, rights and liabilities of registered trade union, regulations, penalties and procedure.

Factories Act, 1948:                                                                             

Definitions; Authorities under the factories Act; Health; Safety; Provisions relating to hazardous processes; Welfare; Working hours of adults; Employment of young persons; Annual leave with wages; Penalties and procedure.
