Inauguration of Road Safety Cell
 

Summary:

The Inaugural ceremony of Road Safety Cell of IIS (deemed to be University) was held on 5th of February 2024 at Vinayak Hall in IISU Campus. The session witnessed the presence of eminent figures, including Shri Laxman Das, DCP Traffic as the chief guest and Mrs. Nidhi Singh, Joint Transport Commissioner, State Road Safety Cell, Department of Transport & Road Safety, Government of Rajasthan as the Guest of honour alongside several high-ranking officials. This cell is set up in the University in collaboration with People Trust India with an objective of creating awareness about Road safety and Post Accidental Care among students and society as well.

During the session, the critical importance of adhering to safety measures such as wearing helmets, respecting traffic signals, and understanding road signs were emphasized. The alarming statistics surrounding road accidents and the vital need for measures to mitigate risks.

The session began with a welcome note from Prof. T.N. Mathur, Vice Chancellor, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. Then Dr. Prerna Singh Arora, CEO & Managing Trustee, People Trust Jaipur enlightened the students with the importance of road safety and explained the working of the NGO and the future framework for the functioning of the newly inaugurated cell in the campus. Student volunteers of the University also shared their past experiences related to the field.

The Chief Guest and the guest of honour also interacted with the students. The session ended with a formal vote of thanks extended by Prof. Raakhi Gupta, Rector & Registrar, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur.

Notably, the establishment of a dedicated Road Safety Cell within the college underscores the institution's commitment to promoting awareness and implementing measures to ensure road safety.
